March Meeting – “Self Driving Car Technology Stack”

The Self Driving Car Technology Stack

Want to learn more about the technologies and infrastructure needed to develop self driving cars? Civil Maps cofounder Scott Harvey and marketing lead Alexa Lee will be giving an overview of their company’s key technologies involving advanced localization, crowdsourcing, and augmented reality maps for autonomous vehicles. They’ll support the talk with the opportunity for Q&A, videos, and perspectives on the self-driving car industry and its ecosystem. Civil Maps is an early stage technology company working on cognition for autonomous vehicles. You can read about their recent launch of Atlas DevKit in Fortune.

Scott Harvey is a co-founder and engineer at Civil Maps, a San Francisco-based startup developing cognition for autonomous vehicles, enabling them to make better decisions and crowdsource 3D maps. He has a technical background in computer vision and control systems. Scott also holds engineering degrees from Brown University and Stanford University. When he’s not working on localizing self-driving cars in 6 degrees of freedom, Scott plays in a band called “Tourist Club.”

Alexa Lee is a marketing lead at Civil Maps, where she is charged with creating awareness and appreciation for the company’s key technology: cognition for self driving cars, which allows for better decision making, safer driving, and crowdsourcing of 3D semantic map data. In previous marketing and public relations roles, she has helped build brands such as StartX, Ogilvy & Mather, Twitter, and Ooyala. A former CNN correspondent, she is a storyteller at heart, tapping into an array of multimedia skills, including 10+ years shooting experience with broadcast, action, and flying cameras. She studied Political Science at Stanford University.
